On the Bank of the Ganges IV by Amit Bhar (2017)
30 in x 40 in, Oil and Acrylic on Canvas

...Street lamps mingle with the golden hue of lamps from the temple as the stillness of the silver water becomes a mirror for the celebration of light. Night time in Beneras becomes vibrant with chimes from the temple, the fragrance of incense sticks as the stream of pilgrims and the stream of water flow past the ancient temples of the Hindu Gods. Mr. Amit Bar's highly realistic yet subtly stylised works have his unique stamp. As in his Benares series, strongly figurative, soft but vivid hues make up his oil paintings, with close attention paid to both lighting and texture. Amit speaks of his style as 'A new semi realistic technique of texturing with the realistic play of light and shade”. In a nut shell, his paintings let the viewer to re-examine the threshold between illusion and reality, between waking and dreaming

Sunrise at the Ramnagar Fort, Varanasi by Amit Bhar (2015)
36 in x 48 in, Oil and arcylic on canvas

...Sunrise at the Ramnagar Fort, Varanasi (Beneras). The Ramnagar Fort is located near the Ganga River on its eastern bank, opposite to the Tulsi Ghat. The sandstone structure was built in the Mughal style in 1750 by Kashi Naresh Raja Balwant Singh. At present, the fort is not in a good shape. It has been the home of Kashi Naresh since the eighteenth century. The current king and the resident of the fort is Anant Narayan Singh, who is also known as the Maharaja of Varanasi even though this royal title has been abolished since 1971. Because of its scenic location on the banks of the Ganges, the fort and the palace are frequently used as an outdoor shooting location for films. The film titled Banaras is one of the popular movies shot here.It was the 7th Pit Stop of The Amazing Race 18 [Source - Wikipedia] varanasi art, river scene, indian landscape, warm colors, cultural heritage, traditional life, oil painting, sunset hues, historical architecture, serene atmosphere Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of this captivating oil painting that transports viewers to the timeless banks of Varanasi. The artist masterfully captures a moment of tranquil life along the river, where tradition and modernity coexist. The warm hues of the sunset reflect off the water, creating a magical atmosphere that invites contemplation and reverie. This piece is perfect for collectors who appreciate the depth of cultural heritage and the ephemeral beauty of daily life in India. The painting depicts a riverside scene in Varanasi, showcasing a series of historic buildings and temples along the banks. The architecture features intricate details and is bathed in warm, golden light, suggesting either dawn or dusk. A prominent red flag flutters, adding a vibrant contrast against the earthy tones of the structures. In the foreground, several wooden boats float gently on the calm water, where figures can be seen engaging in daily activities. The background blends soft, muted colors, creating a serene atmosphere, while the texture of the canvas enhances the overall richness of the scene. This painting shares a visual similarity with works by artists like John Singer Sargent and Claude Monet, who often depicted riverside scenes with a focus on light and atmosphere. The use of warm tones and reflections in water evokes the tranquility found in Monet's 'Water Lilies', while the architectural elements remind one of Sargent's portraits of Venice, blending culture with nature in a harmonious composition.

title - 'After the Bath', an incredibly realistic and exquisitely detailed 40 x 30 inch canvas by the accomplished artist Amit Bhar is a sight for sore eyes. An amazing composition to enhance one's collection with !

Medium - oil on canvas

Tags - figurative art, contemporary painting, feminine beauty, saree draping, earthy colors, introspection, soft focus, emotional depth, cultural heritage, oil painting

Saatchi Description - This captivating piece embodies the graceful allure of femininity. The artist masterfully captures a moment of introspection, where the subject, draped in a flowing saree, exudes both vulnerability and strength. The interplay of light and shadow enhances the texture of the fabric, inviting viewers to explore the depths of emotion conveyed through the figure\'s pose. With rich, earthy tones and a soft, blurred background, this artwork evokes a sense of nostalgia and beauty, making it a perfect addition to any modern collection.

Visual Description - The painting depicts a woman from the back, her hair pulled up, emphasizing the graceful curve of her neck and shoulders. She wears a white saree with a red border that drapes elegantly, revealing the contours of her body. The fabric appears translucent in parts, hinting at her form beneath. The background consists of soft, blended colors—yellows, greens, and browns—creating a dreamy atmosphere. Light gently illuminates her figure, casting subtle shadows that enhance the texture of the saree. The composition focuses on the interplay between the figure and the hazy backdrop.

Similarity - This painting evokes comparisons to works by artists like Gustav Klimt and his exploration of the female form, where drapery plays a significant role. The use of soft colors and ethereal backgrounds also mirrors the style of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, particularly in his depictions of women in serene settings. Both artists employ a similar blending of figure and environment, creating a harmonious relationship between subject and background.
