Tejinder Kanda'S WALL

View Portfolio

Delhi artist Tejinder Kanda seems to dig into his recollection of a carefree childhood spent in the open fields and clean air of lush green rural Punjab & the hills around the area as the spring for his art. The impressionist style of painting with thick impasto work led by French and European Masters beginning the 19th-century has clearly influenced the artists work. An avid admirer of Claude Monet and John Constable amongst others in the genre; Tejinder has evolved his own distinct idiom. There is an interesting mix of abstraction and realism interspersed with landscapes that add an ethereal touch to his work. A dramatic rendering of reflections in water and the play of light and shade are other familiar elements in much of his creative imagery. Partly dreamy and partly representational, the compositions capture the artists perception of life and the world around- its landscapes, fleeting moments and happenings. The renderings are tacit imprints of personal memories desires and experiences primarily as general impressions. Clear thick visible brush strokes in bright colours set against a softer palette, are a hallmark of Tejinders large body of impressionist expressions.

Ethereal Benares at Night by Tejinder Kanda (2015)
28 in x 48 in, Acrylic on Canvas

New artwork uploaded....'Ethereal Benares at Night', a 28 x 48 inch dreamy composition of the illuminated Ghats highlights the spiritual center of the famous temple town in its complete glory and splendor. Varanasi (Hindustani pronunciation: [ʋaːˈraːɳəsi]), also known as Benares, Banaras (Banāras [bəˈnaːrəs]), or Kashi (Kāśī [ˈkaːʃi]), is a city on the banks of the Ganges in the Uttar Pradesh state of North India. In the Rigveda, an ancient Indian sacred collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns, the city is referred to as Kāśī (Kashi) from the Sanskrit verbal root kaś- "to shine", making Varanasi known as "City of Light", the "luminous city as an eminent seat of learning". The name was also used by pilgrims dating from Buddha's days. The artist Tejinder Kanda seems to dig into his recollection of a carefree childhood spent in the open fields and clean air of lush green rural Punjab & the hills around the area as the spring for his art. The impressionist style of painting with thick impasto work led by French and European Masters beginning the 19th-century has clearly influenced the artist's work. The artist employs rich colors and dynamic brushwork to convey movement and energy. As figures bustle about, their reflections dance in the water, creating an enchanting interplay of light and shadow. The umbrellas and trees add vivid pops of color against the evening backdrop, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the scene. A perfect addition for those who appreciate the beauty of everyday life captured in a striking, modern style. The composition features a bustling riverside scene, where numerous figures gather under colorful umbrellas. The water reflects the vibrant hues of the market scene, with rich oranges, deep blues, and hints of green. In the background, trees with bright foliage add depth, while the sky transitions into a warm, muted tone that evokes dusk. The texture of the painting is prominent, with thick brush strokes that enhance the sense of movement and activity. Light plays a crucial role, illuminating the figures and creating a shimmering effect on the water’s surface. This painting bears resemblance to works by Claude Monet, particularly his depictions of lively scenes along the Seine River. Like Monet's use of light and color, this piece captures the vibrancy of everyday life with a similar impressionistic style. The reflections in the water echo the themes found in his 'Water Lilies' series, where the interplay of light and surface creates a captivating visual experience.

Harmandir Sahib by Tejinder Kanda (2016)
40 in x 30 in, Acrylic on Canvas

New artwork uploaded....Delhi artist Tejinder Kanda's ' Harmandir Saheb' is a 30 x 40 inch representation of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The turquoise & violet sky & its reflection in the pond adds to the effect, making it a spectacular piece. The temple is spiritually the most significant shrine in Sikhism. It became a center of the Singh Sabha Movement between 1883 and 1920s. In the early 1980s, the temple became a center of conflict between the Indian government led by Indira Gandhi, some Sikh groups and a militant movement led by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale seeking to carve out a new nation named Khalistan from parts of India and Pakistan. In 1984, Gandhi sent in the army, leading to numerous deaths of militants, soldiers and civilians, as well as causing much damage to the temple and the destruction of Akal Takht. The temple complex was rebuilt again after the 1984 damage. The renderings are tacit imprints of personal memories desires and experiences primarily as general impressions. Clear thick visible brush strokes in bright colours set against a softer palette, are a hallmark of Tejinder's large body of impressionist expressions golden temple, spiritual art, vibrant colors, water reflection, cultural heritage, textured painting, peaceful scene, landscape art, indian architecture, modern impressionism This stunning oil painting captures the Golden Temple, a symbol of peace and spirituality, surrounded by a serene water body. The artist employs a vibrant palette, with luminous yellows and deep blues, evoking a sense of tranquility and reverence. The textured brushwork adds depth and movement to the scene, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its beauty. A perfect addition for collectors who appreciate spiritual themes and rich cultural narratives. The painting features the Golden Temple, prominently situated in the foreground, reflecting its brilliant golden facade onto the shimmering water below. Surrounding the temple are white architectural structures, creating a harmonious contrast. The sky above transitions from deep purples to soft blues, suggesting twilight. Bold brushstrokes convey the texture of the scene, with rippling water capturing the temple's reflection. The overall composition is balanced, drawing the eye towards the temple while the colors evoke warmth and serenity. This painting bears similarities to Claude Monet's 'Water Lilies' in its emphasis on water reflection and vibrant colors. Monet's use of light and texture resonates with the dynamic brushwork seen here. Additionally, the spiritual essence can be compared to Wassily Kandinsky's abstract explorations of color and emotion, where the interplay of hues evokes deeper connections to the viewer's inner experience.
